The need to look good has made people interested in some complementary cosmetic products that help care for the face, hair and body in general. While dermatologically proven treatments are still the best option, there are some homemade recipes that can be used regularly to contribute to healthier-looking skin.

Of course, we must bear in mind that these options are not supported by evidence and therefore there is no data to support their efficacy. Despite this, they tend to use ingredients that are safe for most people and whose nutrients may provide benefits. Are you interested in trying them? We detail them below.

Aesthetic products with natural ingredients

In popular literature, some ingredients of natural origin have represented a complement to skin and hair care. And although they are not a substitute for dermatologist-approved products, there are those who decide to try them as part of their cosmetic routine. Let’s look at the options.

1. Scrub for the face

The peeling or exfoliation is a cosmetic treatment that can remove dead cells from the face to give a cleaner look. A simple way to prepare it is by using natural ingredients, such as olive oil and brown sugar.

As suggested by a study published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, this type of oil has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are beneficial for the repair of the skin barrier.

For their part, brown sugar crystals, due to their texture, serve to help remove impurities that accumulate on the surface of the skin.

    2. Natural conditioner

The conditioner is a nourishing product for the hair that serves to repair the aggressions that it suffers, for example, due to weather conditions and exposure to heat. In this case, we propose a mixture of banana with egg for a natural conditioner.

This combination contains nutrients such as vitamins A, E, biotin, and folic acid that, according to a publication in  Dermatology Practical and Conceptual , can be linked to hair growth and health.

    3. Nail strengthener

Sometimes the nails become weak and tend to split quite easily. A simple way to improve it is by providing nutrients through the topical application of a product based on castor oil and wheat germ.

It is worth noting that one of the main components of wheat germ is vitamin E. This vitamin, according to a study by JAMA Dermatology  contributes to the health of the nails and promotes their healthy growth.

For its part, castor oil has been considered a cosmetic product in popular culture. Although to date there is not enough evidence on its applications in beauty, it is believed that it helps to strengthen and care for nails.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon of castor oil (14 g).
    • 1 teaspoon of wheat germ oil (7 g).

    How to do it?

    • To start, incorporate the ingredients in an airtight jar and shake well until combined.
    • Then, rub a small amount on the nails and let it work for 5 minutes.
    • Clean with a cotton ball and apply it three times a week.

Note: brittle nails, in some cases, alert health problems. If it is a severe or recurring problem, consult your doctor or dermatologist.

    4. Cream for stretch marks

The medical journal of the American Academy of Dermatology clarifies in an investigation that it is difficult to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, even with products and techniques designed to do so. Due to this, we cannot pretend to eliminate them with natural products.

In fact, due to lack of evidence, it is unknown whether they actually have a positive effect or are ineffective. In any case, they are made with ingredients with a moisturizing effect that contribute to skin care. If you want to try this cream, write down the following steps.
