Natural medicine offers us the possibility of taking advantage of its benefits in various ways. And when it comes to improving digestion, we can prepare a homemade syrup with ginger, plantain and anise.

Although we tend to believe that most syrups are intended to treat respiratory disorders, the truth is that they can also be very convenient to help relieve stomach upset.

Next, we will tell you how to prepare a natural syrup with excellent digestive properties.

Improving digestion is possible

Gas, bloating, abdominal pain, reflux, heaviness, and heartburn are very common complaints that are often related to indigestion. Now, these symptoms are not only specific annoyances, but they can be indicative that our diet or our way of eating is not the most correct.

Causes of indigestion.

Before the alarm goes off, it must be clarified that it is possible to improve digestion just by reviewing eating habits and correcting those that are not providing benefits.

For example, if the cause of indigestion is rushed food intake and poor chewing, this can be easily corrected. Taking enough time to eat and rest our meals, as well as chewing our food well, is a start.

Additionally, we can take a natural remedy as a digestive supplement. Be careful, this does not mean that excesses and bad habits should continue with the excuse that the remedy is going to be taken later.

3 medicinal ingredients

We can improve digestion with a homemade syrup made with three ingredients that have very adequate digestive properties to prevent and treat discomfort.

Ginger

Ginger is a root that has been used as a remedy to alleviate various conditions, but above all, gastrointestinal. Its compounds help balance stomach function, prevent gas and bloating.

To prepare the digestive syrup, we will use fresh ginger. We must avoid that the rhizome has wrinkles, that it is soft or that it has mold. If we can’t find it, we can use powdered ginger.

Plantain

The greater plantain, which is very beneficial for treating respiratory diseases, is also a very suitable plant to improve digestion. It allows us to treat colon inflammations and prevent ulcers and bad stomach bacteria.

It is also a very effective remedy for reducing hemorrhoid discomfort and stopping diarrhea. We can use dried plantain leaf, or fresh, if we crush it in a mortar previously.

The anise

The delicious anise seed, also known as matalauva, is a spice and medicinal remedy that has been used since the time of the Egyptians to remove bad breath and improve night’s rest.

In this syrup, the anise seeds will help us fight gas, reduce bloating, prevent “stomach nerves” or nervous gastritis, calm heartburn and improve digestion in general.

From the anise seeds an essential oil with the same properties is extracted, very suitable for massaging the abdomen together with a vegetable oil in case of pain or discomfort.
